Indefinite pronoun (Αόριστη αντωνυμία): a pronoun refering to a non-specific
entity: κάποιος, κανείς, μερικοί, καθένας, άλλος etc.
Κάποιος χτύπησε την πόρτα
Indicative (Οριστική): the verb form which is typically used to make a statement
that can be judged as either true or false. It usually takes the negative δεν and does not
combine with the particles να or ας
Ο Σαχίνης (δεν) κοιμάται αργά κάθε βράδυ
Indirect object (Έμμεσο αντικείμενο): a prepositional phrase or a nominal
usually in the genitive that denotes the person to whom the action of the verb is
directed (see also direct object)
Έδωσα το βιβλίο στη Μαρία
Έδωσα της Μαρίας το βιβλίο
Inflection (Κλίση): the way a word changes to indicate grammatical categories. A
verb has different inflection forms for tense, aspect, person, number. A nominal has
different forms for number, gender, case
αγαπώ – αγαπούσα – αγάπησα
ο έρωτας – του έρωτα – τους έρωτες
Intransitive verb (Αμετάβατo ρήμα): a verb that does not require any
complements

Main clause (Κύρια πρόταση): a clause that can stand independently, i.e.
without being dependent on one of the constituents of another clause (see also Clause,
Subordinate clause)
Ο Σαχίνης κοιμάται αργά κάθε βράδυ
Medio-passive voice (Μέση-παθητική φωνή): a morphological property
of verbs which end in -μαι in the first person singular of the indicative present tense
(έρχομαι, βαριέμαι)
Όταν έρχονται οι συγγενείς μου στο σπίτι, βαριέμαι αφόρητα
Modal verb / expression (Tροπικό ρήμα / έκφραση): a verb or other
expression which is used to denote modality
Μπορεί / είναι πιθανό να γυρίσει / μάλλον θα γυρίσει σύντομα
Modality (Τροπικότητα): a number of semantic functions (certainty, willingness, wish,
necessity, possibility / probability, counter factuality etc.) expressed either by grammatically
distinct verb forms (mood) or by modal expressions (πρέπει, μπορεί, ίσως etc.)
Η Αγκάθα θέλει να ταξιδέψει σε όλο τον κόσμο
Ο Σαχίνης δεν είναι εδώ αυτή τη στιγμή αλλά μπορεί να γυρίσει / μάλλον θα γυρίσει
