(Position of adverbs)
The position of adverbs is not fixed, unlike
English, and usually depends on the
emphasis the speaker wants to give to the
constituent modified by the adverb.
Μου αρέσουν οι αστυνομικές ιστορίες I like detective stories
• Adverb doubling
• Adverbs of place and manner may be used
in complex prepositional constructions with
the prepositions σε, από and με. In these
constructions a pronominal clitic (μου, σου...)
may replace the lower prepositional phrase.
Τον βλέπω κάπου κάπου
Κάθονται δίπλα δίπλα / πλάι πλάι / κοντά
κοντά
Περπατάει σιγά σιγά
Ο κλέφτης είναι πίσω απ’ τον Σαχίνη
