Periphrastic expressions of comparative and
superlative must be used with some groups of
adjectives, i.e. compound adjectives or derived
adjectives in -άτος, adjectives that belong to
the same group as τεμπέλης, adjectives that
are of foreign origin and participles.
Αυτός ο δρόμος είναι πολύ πιο επικίνδυνος
απ’ ό,τι είχα φανταστεί
Είναι το πιο αφράτο κέικ που έχω φάει
Σήμερα φαινόταν πιο κουρασμένος από χτες
Παντρεύτηκε την πιο ζηλιάρα γυναίκα
Use
The comparative is used when two entities
are being compared.
The definite article is used when more than
two entities are compared.
The superlative is used when the relative
quality appears in the highest degree.
When similar entities are being compared
expressions like τόσο … όσο, σαν / όπως
are used.
Το φαγητό που μαγειρεύει η Αγκάθα
είναι νοστιμότερο/ πιο νόστιμο από το
φαγητό της Κλειώς
Όλα τα φαγητά είναι νόστιμα, αλλά
αυτό είναι το νοστιμότερo / το πιο
νόστιμο απ’ όλα.
Νοστιμότατα / πάρα πολύ νόστιμα τα
γεμιστά σου!
Μια γάτα ζυγίζει τόσο όσο δέκα ποντίκια
Η Μαρία είναι ψηλή όπως
η μητέρα της / σαν τη μητέρα της
